Re: Development of Le Platon Home The Directors of Le Platon Home are pleased to announce their plans to develop the home to ensure it continues to provide care and support to the residents of Guernsey. At present, the home is registered as a thirty five bedded residential home. We have approval to increase this to provide fifty bedrooms and communal areas; this will comprise thirty seven specialist beds for people with dementia and thirteen beds for people requiring residential care. The first phase of the development was completed in October 2020 with the second phase due to finish late 2022. The home was established in 1914 by Miss. Edith Renouf (MBE) as a home for the incurably sick and is the oldest residential home in the island. Miss Renouf made provision for the appointment of a Board of Trustees to have overall responsibility for the home after her death, this arrangement continues today. The Trustees give their time freely, receiving no payment for their services. The home is registered with the Guernsey Registry and Guernsey Income Tax Authority and operates on a not for profit basis. In developing its plans for the home the Trustees have followed closely the progress of the Supported Living and Ageing Well (SLAWS) policy document that was approved by the States in 2016. The Trustees are confident therefore that the plans for the home are relevant to current thinking and the needs of the island. The development costs for the new home are anticipated to be high; the Trustees in addition to raising funds through local financial institutions would also welcome donations. Fundraising and marketing leader/volunteer

Le Platon is a very special place. Established over 100 years ago, it is the oldest residential home in Guernsey and is now in the final stages of a significant rebuild that will dramatically increase its bed capacity (particularly to care for people with dementia). Whilst we have been able to cover our build costs to date due to the generous support from a number of benefactors and lenders, the ongoing costs to run a large and busy home will require planning and not insignificant fundraising. We are looking for a special volunteer to help lead, plan and execute our fundraising strategy (and hopefully build a team of motivated volunteers who will ensure the ongoing financial support needed to keep us going). You will have experience that demonstrates an ability to deliver. And you will have the passion to make sure it is!
