Organisation and Management
NAS Guernsey is a voluntary organisation, and all funds raised locally are used for local purposes. The elected committee consists of a Branch Officer, Treasurer, Secretary and other members who are all either parents of children with autism and/or professionals who work with people with autism. They meet regularly to discuss and act on various issues affecting the Branch and local provision for autism and their wealth of experience and knowledge informs all branch activities.
The Branch runs a website and a Facebook page and produces occasional email newsletters to keep members up to date and informed about branch activities as well as local and national news stories involving autism.
The Branch organises a range of social activities for families and children. Activity sessions including archery, bowling, sailing, arts and crafts, jumping and much more are run during term time and the school holidays. Fortnightly Social Sundays are held at Bright Beginnings Children's Centre and are an opportunity for people to get together and chat over a cup of tea as well as providing children with a safe and welcoming environment in which to make new friends.
The Branch also organises occassional training events for families and professionals are regularly brings highly regarded speakers over to the island.
The Branch has an extensive book library and sensory toy library which are available to borrow at no charge.
