Description Aims and Objectives
The Salvation Army is a worldwide Christian Church and charity working in 127 countries, demonstrating Christian principles through practical support and by offering unconditional friendship to people of all ages, backgrounds and needs.
There is a Church and Community Centre in La Route du Picquerel, Vale, which provides worship meetings (Christian Faith), children and youth groups, messy church for children & their parents, interest groups, a luncheon club for people of all ages, parent and toddler church & play groups, men's prayer breakfast and fellowship groups and many more activities as arranged throughout the year. On Christmas Day lunch and entertainment is provided for people who would otherwise be spending Christmas Day alone. The hall is available for hire to community groups who support the ethos of The Salvation Army.
There is also a Community Centre, Cafe and Charity Shop in Nocq Road, St Sampson's, which provides affordable meals, clothing and household goods, a friendship club for people of all ages, community based activities and a weekly luncheon. We are always looking for volunteers to help in the cafe * & charity shop ** - Phone 200216 if you are interested. The centre is open Mon-Fri 9:30am-3pm and Saturday 10am-12 noon.
* Volunteers are required to help in the community cafe at our centre in Nocq Rd. Tasks involve cooking a daily special and providing soups, sandwiches and a variety of hot and cold snacks as well as drinks. If you are interested in volunteering any amount of time you can spare week days between 9:30am and 2pm or Saturday's 10am - 12 noon please contact Sue at the Community Centre on 200216.
** Volunteers are required to help in the charity shop at our centre in Nocq Rd. Tasks involve sorting items, stocking shelves, pricing, labelling and serving in the shop area. If you are interested in volunteering any amount of time you can spare week days between 9:30am and 3pm or Saturday's 10am - 12 noon please contact Sue at the community centre on 200216.
