The Rotary Guernsey Walk Trust
Our aims and objectives
A charitable trust comprising members from Rotary Club of Guernsey and Rotary Guernesiais.
The Trust organises the annual Rotary Round Guernsey Walk, currently referred to as the Saffery Rotary Walk. It takes place (usually in early June) as a means to raise funds which are then distributed to charities in the Bailiwick. All costs are met by sponsorship and the Walk typically raises £40k - £50k. Walkers may participate as individuals or as part of a relay team. The health and safety of the walkers is of paramount importance. A breakfast is provided on the course and there are numerous food and water points. All walkers are tracked around the course using a digitised checkpoint system.
As a marker, 2016 was the 20th year in which the Walk took place.
Organisation and management
The trust deed sets out the terms under which the Trust is run and, in particular, how it receives, manages, and distributes funds. The organising committee is responsible for the logistical arrangements of the event, for its promotion and administration.
Saffery Champness is currently the main event sponsor. Additionally, many other Guernsey businesses provide invaluable assistance in terms of cash sponsorship packages, the provision of their services or benefits in kind. All those offering sponsorship in whatever form are acknowledged on our website.
