Women in Public Life

Our aims and objectives

Women in Public Life is a group of volunteers who inspire and support the women of Guernsey to stand for all forms of public office - Jurats, Douzeniers, Deputies, Commissioners, Tribunal Members.

We strongly believe in the importance of balanced decision-making, with fair representation for the views of all islanders. Women are currently under-represented in public office, not because Guernsey doesn't elect them but because too few women put themselves forward in the first place. We encourage more women to join the candidate pool.

Public office roles are described in full on our website - womeninpubliclife.gg. Sign up to our newsletter or our social media pages to be alerted to new vacancies.

We organise events and campaigns and run a popular Politics Group on WhatsApp. We give support, information and advice to women who are considering standing. And ahead of a general election, we offer a detailed 'Train to Campaign' programme for prospective candidates for Deputy.

Organisation and management

We are a membership organisation with an elected committee.

We are all volunteers with no paid staff

We are funded by donations and sponsorship.
