The Royal Guernsey Light Infantry LBG

Our aims and objectives

The Charity promotes the history of Guernsey's own Regiment, the Royal Guernsey Light Infantry. It is the principle organiser of cultural links between Guernsey and areas of France where the Regiment served. It has established a community that promotes twinning, the annual student exchange program for young people, social and fund raising events, memorial and remembrance activities.

The RGLI LBG is purchasing the derelict cottage at 16 Le Rue Verte, Masnieres around which Guernseymen fought in 1917 and so many were lost, wounded or missing. The aim is to return this to Guernsey' possession and preserve, develop and extend this into a cultural centre that will support young people and the student exchange program, enable inclusion by supporting equility, promote Guernsey, its history and culture, and provide accommodation. The RGLI LBG are currently focused  on raising £350K to bring this project to fruition for both communities and save Guernsey most important building beyond our shores.

Individuals can join the RGLI Association as members with details on the website. The Founders Circle has been established for those wishing closer involvement and provide non-executive style assistance and work. The 1917 Society is specifically for corporate donators and philanthropists. Further information is available by contacting membership@rgli.org or 01481 251683

Organisation and management

RGLI LBG consists of three executive Directors supported by executive officers. Unofficial non-executive business directors advise the management through the Founder's Circle. All are supported by a very keen and active team of volunteers and fundraisers. No member of the RGLI LGB is paid and all funds raised come from public donations, bequests, sponsorship or the sale of merchandise.
