Victoria Homes
Our aims and objectives
Victoria Homes is Guernsey's oldest housing charity. From its foundation in 1897, Guernsey people have voluntarily supported us.
Our mission is to ensure the continuance of Victoria Homes to provide good quality, means-tested, long-term, low-cost accommodation for Guernsey residents aged 55 and over, and to assist our tenants in maintaining their independence and quality of life for as long as possible.
Victoria Homes is a private charity run by local people, for the benefit of the people who live in our community. We aim to be responsive to the changing needs and aspirations of our tenants and service users.
Organisation and management
Victoria Homes is run by a Board of Directors who are all volunteers and are responsible for managing the charity. Day to day running of the housing complex is delegated to an office manager and a property manager who are assisted by 2 wardens and a handyman.
Our complex consists of 34 self contained flats in Park Lane, mostly single accommodation with five flats suitable for couples. We maintain attractive communal gardens with allotments, terrace and greenhouse giving you easy access to outside space.
Whilst demand can be high, we do maintain some accommodation for shorter term emergencies and operate a schedule of improvement and a waiting list. We therefore advise those requiring help to make contact at their earlier convenience.
Day to day expenses, including wages and general maintenance, are covered by the rents received.
