Crimestoppers Trust - Guernsey (The)
Our aims and objectives
The Crimestoppers Trust is a national, community-focused charity providing members of the public with an ANONYMOUS 24/7 telephone (0800 555 111) and email facility to assist with the detection and reduction of crime. Crimestoppers is NOT the Police but it works closely with all law enforcement agencies. All telephone calls and online messages ( via www.crimestoppers-uk.org. ) are encrypted and cannot be traced preserving the anonymity.
Guernsey may have a comparative low crime rate but, as the Police records show, there are still too many crimes committed/reported and no room for complacency.
Organisation and management
The National Board of Trustees is supported by regional Boards of Directors in virtually all police force areas in the U.K and Channel Islands. The role of the Guernsey Board is to promote the Charity and work with law enforcement agencies focusing on key areas to prevent and detect crime to ensure that the Bailiwick.of Guernsey remains a safe place to live and work.
Crimestoppers Guernsey has undertaken a number of events to raise both its profile and funds including a kayak challenge ( circumnavigating Guernsey in less than 8 hours 55 mins and 11 secs), a "Robin Who? archery challenge and Midnight Runway Runs at Guernsey airports.
The Charity has funded several cctv camera's in use across Guernsey.
The Board continues to look for individuals who are interested in promoting Crimestoppers across the Bailiwick particularly those with a marketing / social media / youth work background.
