Guernsey MENCAP LBG
Our aims and objectives
A local charity, affiliated to the Royal Society of MENCAP UK, whose primary objective is to secure for the mentally handicapped of Guernsey, provision commensurate to their needs. This is done by increasing public knowledge and awareness of problems that they and their families face and thus aiming to create a climate of sympathetic public opinion which is a prerequisite of their acceptance into the community.
Organisation and management
I Guernsey Mencap LBG is a company "Limited by Guarantee" which was formed from Guernsey Society for People with Learning Disabilities (Guernsey Mencap) at the start of 2010. The company comprises of members who pledge a guarantee and is run by a board of directors.
Finance is mainly by fund-raising events and one-off donations. A grant from the States of Guernsey is received for Grow Limited (which is 100% owned by Guernsey Mencap LBG). A nominal affiliation fee is paid to the Royal Society of Mencap UK and remaining funds are used in Guernsey for the well-being of those whom we are trying to assist.
