Guernsey Conservation Volunteers
Our aims and objectives
The Guernsey Conservation Volunteers is a group of volunteers undertaking projects, which create, enhance or protect sites of nature conservation importance. The group promotes practical conservation work for the benefit of the community. Volunteers will learn conservation principles and practice conservation work in the Bailiwick of Guernsey.
The group undertakes work on behalf of the National Trust of Guernsey, La Societé Guernesiaise and the States of Guernsey (Agriculture, Countryside and Land Management Services).
Organisation and management
The Guernsey Conservation Volunteers consists of an Operations Director and key volunteers including treasurer, secretary, first aiders and social coordinator; alongside regular volunteers ranging in age from 16 - 60+. The group meets every Wednesday morning and alternate Saturday morning throughout the year on a variety of sites around Guernsey.
Liaison exists between GCV and the landowners to decide on new projects; how to manage existing projects and plan the itinerary for the year. Details of the work parties coming up can be found on the GCV website.
Corporate groups - work parties can be tailormade and take place on any day to suit the requirements of the group. For further details please contact the Group Coordinator.
Schools and youth groups - Education is an important part of our work. Angela, the Operations Director, has 25 years of teaching experience and can offer many teaching and learning activities. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements.
