Volunteer Induction Evening at the GSPCA this Thursday 3rd August at 630pm
Guernsey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA)

At the GSPCA we are extremely busy and we are currently looking for new volunteers to join the team and recruiting new staff. Tomorrow we have the second volunteer induction of 2022 and if you are interested in learning more just turn up at 630pm at the Animal Shelter in St Andrews. Next Induction dates set are: 630pm Thursday 4th August 2022 630pm Thursday 29th September 2022 The volunteer age for inductions is now from 16 years and up and we have opportunities in all parts of our activities here at the GSPCA. From helping with our busy ambulance service to walking dogs, our full cattery to our packed rabbit and small animal department, over 100 hedgehogs to over 30 reptiles, gardening to helping on reception. We are currently advertising for additional staff members at the GSPCA. If you are a trained volunteer and maybe not helped see pre-covid all you need to do is pop in and the team will have plenty for you to do and we can get you back involved. On the 11th September 2022 10am to 4pm the GSPCA will once again be organising a day to celebrate the animals in Guernsey and all the wonderful work that is done to care for them. We are extremely grateful to all those that made last 10 years such great days and we are hoping this years will be bigger and better. There will be stalls and fun for all the family - all with an animal theme. Fancy dress to mascot olympics, children's games to lots of food, a fun dog show, arts and crafts to charity stalls, some of the GSPCA animals looking for homes, entertainment and so much more........ This years Giant Animal Mascot event is the olympics. All proceeds for this years race will help animals in Guernsey at the GSPCA so you can help support a great local charity, whilst having a lot of fun. Chose your Giant Animal Mascot Suit on the day or bring your own, details and sign up below...... There are lots of people that we would like to thank for their help and support to make this an amazing day out for all the family and listed below are just a few of them. The day starts from 10am and will take place along the Sea Front in St Peter Port and there are a variety of events and activities through the day. Please enter your dog on the day. Childrens Animal Fancy Dress For a bit of fun bring your children with an animal themed fancy dress for a free prize. Just pop along to our stall on the Crown Pier between 11am and 4pm on the day for a free gift. GSPCA Seafront Sunday Animal Olympics As part or our 11th Seafront Sunday we are inviting you to join in our Animal Olympic Obstacle course, with a chance to win two return tickets to Alderney; courtesy of Aurigny Airlines (for the adults) and a GSPCA goodie bag (for any children aged 12 and under). So how do you take part? Meet our team at the Crown Pier arena at 1.30pm, pop a small donation in our charity bucket and choose which animal costume to wear during your attempt to BEE the best around our fun course. You can pre register to take part by filling in this form click here Activities will include: Skip rope Slalom BEAR crawl Hula hooping Bean bag balance FROG hop race Ball dribbling Ending in a penalty shoot out Time penalties will be given for any CHEETAHS, knocking over jumps, FOUL play, dropping the bean bag, or ill-EAGLE tripping of your opponent. On Thursday 29th September 2022 there is a Quiz Night starting from 6.30pm at Saumarez Park Café with a raffle in aid of the GSPCA. “90 to 1” One person will walk away with £250! A quiz night with a twist (or two)! Watch & experience teammates working together initially to try to qualify for the final eliminator then rapidly turning against each other for pure greed.
