The Well Gardened Mind

Thursday, April 18th 2024, 7.00 PM - 8.00PM Les Cotils, Harry Bound Room PHG Members £5, Non-members £10 Sue Stuart-Smith will give an illustrated talk entitled ‘The Well Gardened Mind’, based on her book of the same name. This was a Sunday Times & Times book of the year in 2020 and has been translated into 18 languages. It was very well reviewed. A prominent psychiatrist & psychotherapist, she also trained as a doctor. Dr Stuart-Smith will discuss how gardening can answer to deep existential needs & will present findings from recent research, which shows how connecting to nature can alleviate symptoms of anxiety, stress & depression. She is married to Tom Stuart-Smith the celebrated garden designer.

Alongside Bailiwick Eelgrass Exploration Project (BEEP) and the Clean Earth Trust we will be checking out the marine life, including eelgrass and seaweed. Help us clean the shores too. Please bring suitable clothing and wellies!

This year the GSPCA once again joins in the Liberation Festivities at the Last Post. We will have our stall with games and GSPCA goodies on sale. Vale Earth Fair are once again involved with it all starting from midday with an Acoustic Stage, BBQ, Bar, Family Fun Day and Childrens Play Area. We will be attending the Guernsey Boat Show between 17 - 19 May, taking place on the Crown Pier in St Peter Port. Please call at our stand in the marquee to find out more about Channel Islands Air Search, and to buy items from our range of merchandise (including the ever-popular aircraft models and copies of the Leo Seeker children's books). The event is also an ideal opportunity to donate any unwanted notes or coins to our successful foreign currency appeal, operated in partnership with BATIF Bureau de Change.
