Description Aims and Objectives

The Guernsey Blind Association offers support and advice for individuals and families with Visual Impairment, providing up to date equipment and practical advice to help maintain and encourage independent living skills.

The GBA also has a fully equipped Resource Centre/Shop which allows a 'hands on' approach with a variety of magnifiers, audio equipment and aids to help maintain independent living.

Help is given towards the cost of eye tests and new glasses.

The office is open 9am till 1pm Monday to Friday and at other times by prior arrangement, home visits are also provided in the afternoons.

On Thursday between 2pm and 4pm there is a meeting at the centre for an afternoon of different activities.

Organisation and Management

The Guernsey Blind is managed by a team of Trustees who meet every other month, providing the continuity of the service provided within the Bailiwick of Guernsey.

A part time, term time secretary is employed working between 9am and 13.00 pm and a Vision Support Advisor who is employed full time.

The Audio news team run a weekly Talking Newspaper sent in the post to over 100 homes!

Financed by donations, bequests, fund-raising, and member subscriptions. All money raised is used for the residents of the Bailiwick.
