Ron Short Centre LBG - UnLtd
Our aims and objectives
The Society is a local charitable organisation, which operates from the Ron Short Centre at Beau Sejour. It is committed to helping people of all ages in the Bailiwick of Guernsey who have physical or sensory disabilities. It's work includes direct, social, financial and welfare assistance. It also runs a sheltered workshop at the Ron Short Centre (Monday to Friday), producing a range of goods for sale to the public. Each week, the Society hosts a handicrafts afternoon for ladies and two social afternoons for men.
The society is keen to encourage its younger members educationally and socially, and has a thriving Youth and Social club. Competent staff and/or helpers ably supervise all activities.
Organisation and management
The Society is governed an Executive Committee of twelve members. There are four paid staff members: a Centre Manager, a Workshop Manager, and two part-time drivers.
The running expenses of the Society are largely met by donations, legacies, and a variety of fund-raising activities. A contribution from the Board of Health is designed to assist with the running the Sheltered Workshop, and Centre activities. The Society runs its own charity shop, and it is always keen to welcome new volunteers for a wide variety of tasks in the shop and in the Centre itself.
