History, Horticulture and Happiness 16279 Plant Heritage Guernsey Wednesday, October 16th, 7.00PM - 8.00PM Les Cotils, Harry Bound Room PHG Members £5, Non-members £10 Debs Goodenough will give an illustrated lecture entitled ‘History, Horticulture & Happiness’. Debs grew up on a farm in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Canada. She trained in horticulture first in Canada, the USA & then at Kew. Her first job was as a propagator at the Ventnor Botanic Gardens in the Isle of Wight. She then became Head Gardener at Osborne House, during its restoration period. This was followed by 12 years when she was Head Gardener at Highgrove, King Charles’ country house, developing the organic principals, in which he is so interested and other Royal Gardens. She retired in 2020 and lives on the Isle of Wight. Debs is still involved with the RHS Woody Plant Committee and is on its judging panel. She is married to Simon Goodenough, who was formerly director of the Ventnor Botanic Gardens in the Isle of Wight.
