The Pollinator Project LBG

Our aims and objectives

We are a group of volunteers making a practical difference to Guernsey’s biodiversity with a particular focus on pollinators - the bees, butterflies and other insects that we need for the plants that produce our food, the colour in the flowers all around us and in nature. We partner with community groups, schools, the States, businesses and householders locally and work with groups in other parts of the world with similar aims and ideas.

Our aims are to see 10% of everyone’s gardens set aside for wildlife, pesticide usage restricted, as many islanders as possible involved in caring for nature, and all children taught the vital role pollinators have in our food and wellbeing.

Organisation and management

The LBG has a formal board of Directors which meets quarterly to review strategy, governance, policies, financial position, and progress towards the overall aims and objectives.

The operations committee meets fortnightly to confirm progress, share ideas, see which projects need support, and review media coverage. The LBG prides itself on being open to new ideas from inside and outside the charity.
