Description Aims and Objectives

The Salvation Army is a worldwide Christian Church and charity working in 131 countries, demonstrating Christian principles through practical support and by offering unconditional friendship to people of all ages, backgrounds and needs.

The Salvation Army in Guernsey operates as one organisation across two buildings.  There is a Church and Community Centre in La Route du Picquerel, Vale, which provides worship meetings (Christian Faith), children and young people activities, interest groups, a friend's together group, a luncheon club for people of all ages, parent and toddler church & play groups, men's prayer breakfast, Bible study and fellowship groups and many more activities as arranged throughout the year.  On Christmas Day, lunch and entertainment is provided for approximately 70 people who would otherwise be spending Christmas Day alone.  The hall is available for hire to community groups who support the ethos of The Salvation Army.

There is also a Community Centre, Cafe and Charity Shop in Nocq Road, St Sampson's, which provides affordable meals, clothing and household goods.  It is a place where friendships are made among people of all ages and where community based activities and daily low cost meals are provided.  We are always looking for volunteers to help in the cafe * & charity shop ** - Phone 200216 if you are interested.  The centre is open Mon, Tue, Wed & Fri 9:30am-2pm and Saturday 09:30am-12 noon (Closed Thursday's)

* Volunteers are required to help in the community cafe at our centre in Nocq Rd.  Tasks involve providing soups, sandwiches and a variety of hot and cold snacks and drinks along with other day to day café tasks such as washing up and clearing tables.  If you are interested in volunteering any amount of time you can spare week days, except Thursdays, between 9:30am and 1pm or Saturday's 09:30am - 12 noon please contact Jonathan at the Community Centre on 200216.
