Description Aims and Objectives
The branch was formed in 1976 and is one of about 250 in the British Isles. As a branch of the UK MS Society its Constitution follows the same principles including its policies and procedures. All funds raised in Guernsey is used for the benefit of residents in the Bailiwick of Guernsey who are affected by Multiple Sclerosis.
The Guernsey Branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society is a local charity which seeks to supplement the services and support provided by the States of Guernsey for the benefit of MS patients in the Island. There is no membership fee payable to benefit from our assistance but referral must be made through the HSC's Specialist Nurse.
The Group’s services are coordinated through the HSC’s Specialist Nurse, who provides information and advice on symptoms and treatments and links to other health professionals.
Areas where the Group typically helps are –
• Provision of healthcare and lifestyle related equipment
• A support and/or social network for patients, their families and friends
• Funding for complementary treatments
